The Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy & Jobs – Letter to U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx

Honorable Anthony Foxx
Secretary of Transportation
United States Department of Transportation

Re: The Inclusion of Section Two of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (Metro) Westside Purple Line Subway Extension Project into the United States Department of Transportation’s Fiscal Year 2016 New Starts Report.

Dear Secretary Foxx:

On behalf of the members of the Los Angeles Coalition for the Economy & Jobs (L.A. Coalition) we are writing to express our appreciation for the leadership role you have played in securing federal dollars these past few years toward L.A.’s public transportation initiatives that are transforming mobility options for the region’s residents, workers and visitors.

We are writing to request the inclusion of Section Two of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Westside Purple Line Extension Project into the United States Department of Transportation’s Fiscal Year 2016 New Starts Report. As you are aware, President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2015 Budget included $100 million for a section of this project, along with a recommendation that the project be issued a Full Funding Grant Agreement, which you granted earlier this year at a ceremony in Washington, DC.
